I really want to look good at my formal this friday. Im gonna go get my hair done, and get it really straight. I'm thinking of getting my makeup at MAC in Macys, but I don't know if they are actually good and if I have to reserve. If there is anywhere else please tell me!. I also have fair/beige skin. Should i get a fake tan? If I do, which ones?Or should i just use a bronzer on my face. I don't know what else to do. What kind of makeup I shoul;d tell the people to do.

MAC usually employs great artists, as for if you need to reserve i dont think you do but it wouldnt hurt to call ahead to make sure.

dont get a fake tan, you might end up orange and sometimes thats hard to get off. tell the artist what your dress looks like and what you want to look like (dramatic, fresh etc) theyre paid to figure out what to do on their own.

Bare essentials is a wonderful makeup store. its expensive but works flawlessly to cover acne, bumps, discoloration, or even freckles! If you go in the store they will do foundation, bronzer, blush, mineral vale, etc and your skin will look young and radiant. also sephora will do your eye makeup if you ask and they have a wide selection so finding the perfect colors is super easy! and my sister got her makeup done at macys for homecomming, she looked really pretty. they only offer free makeup service if you buy something, however

MAC is good, they have beautiful makeup will bright colors that make you stand out, but if your unsure go there a week in advance and have them do your makeup and if you like it remember what they did so you can describe it next time. if you dont like it, try another makeup place at macy's. as for the fake tan, dont. they dont look good. you could look orange. good luck , and dont overdue it! you might end up looking like a clown with too much accessories/makeup/fake tan.

Well, you cant grow your hair out really long in a month so you may have to get extensions for this formal thing. But I would say be happy that you have wavy/curly hair. I have the same problem though, hun. My hair will be wavy on one side, curly on the other, curl out on one side and curl under on the other. You just have to style it. Straight hair is so boring. But I take these Vitamins from Walgreens..they're about 8-12 dollars and its called "Hair, Skin %26amp; Nails" by Natures Bounty. It helps your hair grow faster and alot healthier too.

Your hair looks like it isn't growing because you have all these curls. If you were to straighten your hair, you'd likely see more growth. Genetics determine how fast your hair grows, so you can't change that. Certain hormonal factors (being pregnant) may make your hair grow super fast, but other than that, you can't do much.

You might want to try conditioning it more. Your hair is curly, so it's very prone to damage. If your hair breaks a lot, then you're losing a lot of new growth. I really recommend trying out VO5 oil treatments (drugstore). They're inexpensive, and you'll notice a big difference. Also try getting a leave in conditioner, just to keep your ends moisturized so they don't break.

You might want to go for a cut. If you get razor layers, your hair will lie flatter and you won't have so much bulk. Plus, your hair will look longer at the ends. I'm obsessed with getting my hair thinned - I have really thick hair, so I get it thinned every couple months and it looks smooth and healthy - and it feels like it's growing really fast!

I've heard prenatal pregnancy vitamins help with hair growth. It's worth a try if you're getting desperate - you don't have much to lose! (**disclaimer: talk to a doctor before taking any vitamins). You'll find these at the drug store.

ok is that a made up word or do you mean wedding, like getting married. ne way, if that is the case. then i suggest taking 2 small peices from the side by your ear, and pull them back to the back of your head, put a clear rubber band around it, then buy babies breath and ftick it around the hair that goes back, you can also braid those peices that you pull back too. I have straight hair, a lil frizzy but i keep a straightner at hand at all times for those lil problems. But my point in asking about how to make my hair curly is, i have tried scrunching, i have tried curlers, hot rollers and god knows what else to try and get my hair to curl. they just fall right out. for a winter formal that i went to they curled my hair and used a lil hair pray at 1st you not to way it down, but they kept falling out so they woul go back curl some more and add more, so in the end i just wore my hair up. i would like to purm it, but my hair only goes to my shoulders and i don't want to purm it and it frizz up like crazy and me have a fro. plus my parents just won't allow a purm they say it will kill my hair. so if anyone has any amazing tips to make my hair possibly curly i would LOVE YOU FOREVER, b/c my hair is straight and boring, i would love to do something different. thank you.

3. Citrus lift shampoo and conditioner (only if you want your hair curly all the time)

4. shower at night then out curlers in your hair and sleep with them on. when you take them out of hair in the morning, your hair should be curly

messy buns are very cute, can be sexy and chic and yes, elegant. Kiera Knightly often wears one and you can dress it up or down.

simply gather your hair back as if you are going to tie it back in a pony and twist around until it is a bun. it doesn't need to be perfect, messy with texture always looks good. even french into it if you want. then add sparkly vintage accessories. nice!

u could section the top part of ur hair from the rest and put the underneaf in a french pleet then with the hair u sectioned off u could twist it roun ur 2 fingers to make a loop and then u will have it spiked too at the top so u will have a sexy but glam look. i did this look alot when i did hairdressing on a lot of wedding hair dos and no one complained hope this helps with some ideas........... have fun.............

Yes you can definitely make it more formal, if your makeup and accessories and such are nicely and elegantly done. I think its acceptable, since the prom isn't supposed to be super formal. Just semi formal.

Hi. I'm at the point where I'm ready to cut it all off, but know better. My hair is straight as a rod about half-way down my head. Then, underneath all the straight hair, comes a wild mix of a wavy frizzy mix toward the back of my head. A wild bumpy cowlick at the back of my head makes a short haircut difficult and growing out a cut even worse. Bobs are out because my hair is too thick. Layered looks last for a short time before they flip out or look frizzy. Every time I go for a cut I feel like I take a huge chance. At age 48 I really want something I can live with, ponytail or formal, without much fuss. I have tons of hair, with a chubby-oval face. I would really appreciate hearing from people who have this hair-personality type. If you have any hairstyle suggestions for me, I would Love it!

I would just get someone to cut or shave the frizzy hair thats bothering you underneath. That would make the hair on top lay down better and it'd be easier to style that way too.

I have two whirls on the back of my head, which are similar to cowlicks. You are right. If you cut the hair short around it, your hair will stand up!

I too have rats and knots that develop underneath my hair too. If I leave them alone, they look like spiral curls.

I also use John Frieda Frizz Ease Products. I use the smoothing creme. It works great, but don't overuse these types of products or they might make your hair look greasy instead.

Chubby faces look best by wearing styles that elongate the face, like longer bangs.

How to keep heavy hair curly?

I'd like to have my hair professionally done this weekend for winter formal... the problem is that I want large, wavy curls, and every time I ask for them they end up falling out by the end of the day.

I imagine it's because my hair is heavy and/or I'm active and play with it too much... one solution I thought of is to have it curled tight in order to have it folded out by the end of the day. Would this work or would the curls stay too small?

As well, are there any other suggestions I could work with? I do not have much extra time on my hands for hair products, however I may be able to manage running out and buying something last minute if the product is absolutely amazing and sworn by.

If your curls fall out it is probably due to the fact that you have very healthy hair.

Bad news, the way you want it won't stay unless you damage it.

There are many products out there you could try but you might just think of trying a different look.

I had an "up" do where the curls were at the top and they stayed because she pinned the curls to my head, I really liked it, I had the same problem as you, the curl just would not stay.

My advice is if you really want your hair the way you say, first go to the person that is going to do your hair and ask her opinion about a product to keep your hair from falling. If you have been using the same lady, maybe find someone else.

I have found that most professional gradr hair products do work much better than store bought ones and yeah I could list some great products that might work well for you but the truth is, there are different products for different reasond and formulated for different hair types.

Your stylist should know the right information to give you and since she can see your hair she will know what to do for you.

when i died my hair i died it a bark burgandy red-ish color.

i know many people ask this but this question is a bit different..

A- a girl that wears sporty clothes: tights/sweat pants, jerseys or small t shirrts and sneaks (she never wears heels, even to a formal event). she is naturally beautiful and her hair is nice but a bit frizzy. all she does in the morning is get up, do what everyone does in the bathroom, wash her face and grab w/e she sees in the closet.

up-do's are really hard to do yourself and they never come out like the pictures. just so you know. more than likely she has some fake hair in there also. so don't be disappointed if yours doesn't look the same when you try it. you'll need a big barrel curling iron and a lot of bobby pins. give yourself a part in the front and just start pinning sections. curl them first and then pin them down.

Ok so the other week I had a formal. I wore the nicest dress my mom made for me. Everybody thought it was professionally made. I had my hair and nails and make up done and new shoes. At school I have not many clothes and look a little daggy. I get teased a lot about my appearance but that night the popular girls flocked around me and asked me to dance with them and boys that usually tease me were being extremely nice to me. Why did this happen? so winter formal is comming up and i died my hair in the middle of october and im starting to get roots and i would like not to have roots for winter formal because root sare ugly.

when i died my hair i died it a bark burgandy red-ish color.

after some wear and it turned to be my natural hair color but a little darker and tinted red.

and i sorta would like a change, and i was thinking blonde highlights but would that look akward with my hair color since its like sort of red?

or would it look fine?

or should i dye my hair a brunette color, then get highlights or just go to a blonde-ish color??

Id suggest that you should go like a darker chesnut brown and get some blondish or lighter brown highlightss. The red looks nice, but i think you shoudl go kinda brown.

I've done all I could and no matter what I try to do I just don't feel beautiful. I tried changing my look. I cut my hair. I grew it out. I dress formal for no reason. I wear jeans. I wear skirts. I curled my hair. I straighten it. I wear tight clothes. I wear loose clothes. I wear heels. I wear converses. I don't know what else there is to do!! I honestly feel like pulling my hair out and crying in a corner. I have no confidense and I don't know what to do to bring it up. Everytime I try something new I get shot down by looking in the mirror. It kills me so much. As hard as I try I don't even get the simple little 'You look nice today' or 'Wow I really like your outfit'

I'm not spoiled I just want attention. I want all eyes to be on me for once. I'm so tired of feeling this way about myself. Please help me out. Life just isn't so great right now...

if you feel good on the inside about yourself then you will shine on the outside. What i like to do is spend a night as a beauty night. i have a long milk bath (use skim powdered milk from the supermarkets), you could also add some fragrant oils if you like. Burn some candles and listen to some relaxing music.

While in the bath i was my hair, put in some treatments and shave etc.

When i get out i give myself a facial, so i wash my face, then i tone and then put on a facial mask, some times i make my own with some advocados, strawberries, carrots, bananas, lemons and honey, depending on what ive got. I relax and let my feet soak in warm water. i then scrub all the hard skin off and then leave them to cool down with the mint moisturisers. really good.

I then do my hair, wash off my face, moisturise my hands etc.

Nothing makes you feel more beautiful than feeling clean in my opinion.

Exercise always makes me feel good about myself, drink lots of water, eat good foods and dont compare yourself! your a good person, who i am sure is very attractive, and you dont need to be hard on yourself.

Confidence is the key, if this shines so will you.

I black dress that goes to mid-thigh with a nice neckline and straps. I think it will be classic but super cute. You could also try a sort-of silky material red dress, maybe a little longer by a few inches, (short red dresses tend to look slutty, lol). I think both would look awesome.

I'd go to the mall with a friend or two though and just stop at all sorts of stores and try things on. It'll be fun and you'll have a huge selection and outside opinions from your friends.

Hey, join the club, if you have hair like mine, you should fallow this advice, get those old fashioned hair curlers (the round one that you twist In your hair), get the kind you HEAT up and after you wash your hair, dab it off so its still wet, but not dripping, then you put them in according to the directions, after that you spray MAX HOLD hair spray all over your head, sometimes i use moose as well, anyways, put them in your hair and sleep like that or leave it like that for a couple hours, (I get hot pink ones to I don't look like a granny) in the morning, take them out and scrunch your hair with gel, (put hair gel on your hands and grab a lock and push up) yeah, I know, lots of work, but its worth it, remember get curlers you can HEAT IN THE THINGY! And if all fails maby your straight hair was mean to be!

My daughter is a hairdresser and she has to deal wtih my hair which is straight! Perms tend to stay better in my hair if she uses a good conditioner before and cuts it after putting the perm in. when you get out of the shower brush your hair then run gel through your hair. then get some more and begin scrunching it. while your hair is upside down. be sure to apply hairspray as you are doing this. then scrunch it to each side of your head when you are done keep your hair flipped to one side and wait for it to dry but keep scrunching it to be sure the curls stay in.

Do not wash your hair for at least 24 hours before trying to curl it. If you must wash it, use only a very small amount of shampoo, and do not condition your hair. Wash and condition your hair if you have naturally straight hair get shampoo and condition that defines curls like Garnier Frutis Curl and Shine and mousse that defines curls. Squeeze the excess water out. To scrunch it, you want it damp but not soaking wet or dripping. Wrap your hair in a small towel. Do not rub your hair at all with the towel. What you can do is wring it within the towel if the ends are still dripping. Comb your fingers or a wide-tooth comb through your hair and make a part as best as you can. Don't worry if it's not perfect. Spray hairspray in your hair. Put it near the middle and bottom of your hair. Putting it too close to your roots will cause it to look greasy and weighed down. Put gel in your hands and rub them together to spread the gel. Grab a small handful of hair by the ends and push it up toward the head. Hold it in place for a few moments while aiming the hair dryer at it to 'set' the gel/mousse/hair spray.

Repeat this all over your head, reapplying the gel every time. Keep in mind that small handfuls yield tighter waves and large handfuls create full, loose waves.

i think the red suits you. go to a salon and maybe go for a warm chestnut color. you could ask for a few highlights in the front. dont try it yourself. your formal is an important event and we wouldnt want to take any chances. also while your there at the salon you can discuss styles and makeup to suit your dress. have fun and good luck.

put the emphasis on either your eyes or on your lips; not both. so, if you wear your normal natural looking eye makeup, wear dark red lipstick. or, wear a neutral colored lipstick and give yourself a smokey eye look with grey eyeshadow and charcoal liner.

I would use a nice base that blends in with the natural tone of your skin, either a raisin or other dark earthen tone lipstick and artificial eyelashes instead of mascara on the top lashes...a little mascara on the lower ones is okay. A dark brown eyeshadow on the bottom crease of your upper eyelid not extending beyond the very lid itself and a thin line of it right under your lower lashes not extending beyond them.

Go without blush and with the minimal use of other colors (and aritificial lashes) natural beauty will only be enhanced without it looking like you overdid the makeup....

Another tip with applying base and getting that natural look where it doesn't look like it's caked on is mix a little water based facial moisturizer (go 50/50) with the base and it will blend better and look like you're not wearing base at all...but any blemishes or flaws will be covered.

You didn't say what color your eyes were!

If you want to go easy, skip foundation if you can. It looks like a mask if you have nice skin. If you need to use foundation try a creme one and finish with a powder. I like to use a tan-type powder and use it like blush on my cheeks, hairline and nose.

If you have blue eyes go with gray liner, just on the top lid and smear it. For green, use brown. For brown eyes, use olive green or a tan. Finish with a sparkly powder eyeshadow that is sandy or champagne. Put a little below your lower lashes, not too much, just enough to highlight your lower eyelid. Use mascara, brown for natural look, black for a more dramatic look. Make sure you do your bottom lashes too.

I like lip gloss, just a clear shiny color. Or if you want to go glam chose a red lipstick that you like. You know what you like when it comes to lipstick and if you don't that's where the clear gloss can help!

The whole look is "I am wearing makeup, my makeup is not wearing me."

Remember waterproof mascara is the best to avoid the raccoon eyes from sweating or crying.

DONT YOU DARE GET MAKEUP DONE PROFESSIONALLY! they'll wipe out your face and you'll look like a ghost. believe me. been there, done that! i know you said you're into more natural colors but believe me...slightly smokey eyes are sexy, sultry, and still doll-like (the way i do it). apply a drak gray cream eyeshadow from lash line to brow bone. to create depth apply a very dark gray-blue cream eyeshadow to your eyelid and blend away any harsh lines. line your top and bottom lash line with black liquid eyeliner. apply 2-3 coats of VERY BLACK mascara. dust the apples of your cheeks with a babypink/medium honey colored blush for a natural doll-like flush. lastly apple a honey colored lipgloss/lipstick. i also have tan skin and i love this look. its cute and sultry. if you dont wanna do it yourself get a friend whos good with makeup to do it for you. have fun!

If you want to go different from the everyday, but not too overboard, try a new color. A pretty jade green smudged as eyeliner with gold/natural eyeshadow on the lids can be very fun and different, yet not too wild. Put on some mascara and its a good combo with a simple black dress. Add simple everything else (blush, foundation, id go with red gloss - its bright yet shiny, so its not overdone) Its a more trendy style then "smokey" which unless you are a whiz at, can be a disaster, and you'll look pretty and sophisticated without looking overdone.

For my grade 11 semi-formal i got my hair and make-up done and got fake nails

and alternative for you might be if you have a family friend that is really good at doing hair and make -up that can look just as good and you can still buy some new make-up so you feel special on the day but it isn't as expensive. Or you can get your hair styled at a hairdresser. You could get a pedicure and manicure but i didn't i just filed and painted my own toe nails and then got my nails done. Also you get those nise fake nails that you can glue on yourself i used them for parties and they are great. with necklaces and earrings and stuff it depends on which dress you pick. But you don't want to much bling else you may look tacky so maybe if you have a ring don't have a bracelt and vise versa but yeah earrings and a necklace are a good idea.

Regular clothes; Start off with some good jeans, cute shorts, a few skirts

Under garmets: go to victorias secert. the Pink line is really great for teens your age, and they have shirts too

Swimsuit: try one of the polo swimsuits, they have them at nordstrom. if thats a little too pricy, Target believe it or not has great swimsuits for lower prices

Something formal: to go a department store suck as nordstrom, and you could find a nice dress, or if you go to wet seal you can find nice slacks and tops, or skirts

Make-up: try a light colored eye shadow, simple legnthening mascara (Clinique works well), and a dark blue eye liner will make your blue eyes stand out.

Hair: Keep your hair brown and wavy, you may not like it, but you can do so much to it. Straiten it to where there are no waves, but not flat, and then try to curl your hair around the straitner, then brush it out. The Chi straitner is my personal favorite.

I totally understand how you feel. About the guy situation you just got to find the guy you really want to go with and ask him. Its better to do it then not to. Believe me, you wont regret it. No matter what you'll end up with a date. And with your hair and dress. All I did was straighten my hair like i do everyday. But if you did want to get it done i would suggest getting a simple bun or a simple curl. nothing too big. And your dress, those dressy dresses are going out of style of these. Get a pretty flowy dress that is made for this time of season.And dont let it be a long one. maybe a few inches below the knee or above. But just remember, no matter what you will have a good time. you can scrunch it. thats what i do. idk what kinda of hair you have but if its decent then it should work.

1. wash your hair with shampoo %26amp; conditioner.

2. towel dry your hair, but dont let it get too dry.. it needs to be more than just damp.

3. put enough moose in the palm of your hand to make it through your hair, start at the end of your hair tips %26amp; push up with the moose %26amp; just like "scrunch" it in.

4. when your done doing that %26amp; all of your hair has moose in it, put hairspray in it.. a light coat all over.

5. blow dry your hair so its dry but it will make the curls stay in place %26amp; a little hard i guess you could say.

6. if you want to put hairspray in it again for a finish you can. i do.

if you have naturally curly hair this should be amazing.

if not, it'll still be cute! i have friends that do this to their hair %26amp; they have pin straight hair naturally but it looks so cute when they do this.

Face: Some sheer foundation, and block any blemishes with concealer.

Eyes: I wouldn't put any eyeshadow on. Put on some light black mascara. It would look dramatic even without shadow.

For a year i have been growing my hair to get ready for the formal which is in about 9 or 10 months. I went to the hair dresser today and asked for 1cm off all over.

I saw big chunks falling onto the ground, like 10cm or more in length. I asked her, rather rudely, what she was doing. She told me she was just lightening it up so it would sit better.
