For the casual one:

Either wear nice pants (something dressy like gouchos) and a nice/cute shirt or a short dress. You could also wear a skirt and a nice shirt. If you go with skirt or dress, don't have a very long one, make sure it is above your ancles. Just below the knees would be good. Don't wear jeans. The dress shouldn't be too fancy like a prom dress. Have nice shoes. Dressy sandles are good, NOT flip-flops. Hair can be curled a little or straight. Studs are a good idea for earings. A necklace can be worn if it is not too big or flashy.

For the other one:

At my eight grade banquet (we had a dance at someone's house afterward for the dance), the girls wore prom dresses. Most of them were really fancy. We all had updoes done somewhere professional for our hair. Make-up was nice. Jewelry was fancy.

She should ask her friends what they are wearing.

Well i'm in 8th grade and at a formal dress try wearing a nice long dress and if it's casual just wear a t-shirt and jeans since it's really just a party....as for make up try some dark red lipstick for formal...the blush should look natural and if u get a dark dress try some purple-gray eye shadow......also wear ur hair in curls......for casual just wear light make up and hair however

anything too formal will age her. just be casual, but if she wants to feel more dressed up, have her hair professionally styled. it could be curled and put up in a half-do (so again, it's not too formal like an updo). Or, if she already has curly hair, she could switch up by having it slicked straight.

the dress attire could be a fun dress (not too poofy or prom-y). at least knee length so it's appropriate for dancing (minis can get too revealing on the dance floor).

the makeup can be a little heavier than daywear, but not too adult. maybe a smoky eye w/charcoal gray or dk brown and a nice pink/nude lipstick.

yours: you shoud probably go with a skirt to stay in the casual side. A pleated one will be really nice with a fitted top (POLOS DON"T COUNT) for makeup, try to look natural with some light blush, a neutral eyeshadow, white eyeliner, and sparkly lipgloss. If you lost your tan, go with a powder bronzer, instead of blush. For your hair, french braid it, it will look really nice if it's neat

my 16 yr old went to her 8th grade dance in a nice dress, not a gown just a short white studded dress with her hair upswept and silver jewelry and high silver shoes, nothinf fancy, now for the formal like a prom then get a gown with high shoe and make tour face up like a star.go girl
