I think you need to stop putting this boy on a pedalstal and get on with your life. There will be many boys you feel that "love" for. How can you love him if you have never been out with him at all. And how silly is he to say "oh no, Sophies don't work out for me" that's just silly and immature. He is making excuses to keep you at a distance.
