How can I make my curls stay put?

I'm going to a formal and want to curl my hair, The problem is my hair never holds a curl for long. My hair type is straight and pretty normal. What are some good products to use that will make my curls last?

wrap a section of hair around the curling iron, mist with hairspray, blow dry, THEN remove curling iron and separate curls with your fingers how you want them

Tell your hair, "Stay!" "Good Curls!" Seriously, I have the same problem. To help them stay in for about 3 hours, I use just a little bit of Suave maximum hold hair spray as soon as I take the rollers off. I don't touch them or fuss with them.
