To a semi formal I would wear nice pants with a pretty top or possibly a cocktail dress (short or half lenght %26amp; made from materials other than satin). Keep the make-up natural-not too dramatic. For your hair, either straighten it or have a light wave/curl with your fringe pinned back. Bringing a date would be fine.

The events at a semi formal are usually quite similar to a formal, only not as 'polished'.
