Auditions at my high school are coming up soon for next year's musical, and they have chosen Little Shop of Horrors! I will a freshmen. I am wondering which part I should audition for. My info is:
I will be 14 at the time
My voice is a low to mid alto
I am a white female girl with brown curly hair and brown eyes
I have 2 years of acting, no formal singing or acting training
I know being a freshman I won't get the biggest part. I don't want Audrey for sure! I was thinking of Chiffon, Ronnette, or Crystal...
Do you think I should even audition as a freshman, or just be prepared to work backstage as a techie?

If you can harmonize, you could have a shot at this great trio setting. While I don't know which of these parts are in your range, get the script/libretto and try your hand at the parts in the music. The "moves" are isolated to some arm and positioning as I have seen this program.
Have fun! This is a wonderful show to work... lots of backstage stuff. Your audition will reflect your best suits if you are relaxed and enjoying the audition process.

The singing roles are just too high for you. You might make the chorus but at your age and the opportunity's the next three years will offer, I take a behind the stage approach first. You will have years and years to do this play in the future.
